Buying Art Supplies and Painting!

Buying Art Supplies and Painting!

Hey there!
So in this video I’ll be painting the free print that will come with every order of my FUN zine! It’s one of the thumbnails that ended up not getting picked for being the cover art… But I liked it a lot so I made it into this “promotional poster” concept! Painting with gouache and poster colors isn’t really something I’m used to, but covering large areas with opaque paint is very satisfying!! Doing the lettering and everything in traditional medium was also quite fun? The cover was made using both traditional and digital mediums, because it would be easier and cleaner that way. For this poster illustration though, I wanted to mimic the oldschool way of making posters, which is all analogue. I was inspired by Giles from Shape of Water, because the small frames where you could see him working on illustrations in the movie were so mesmerizing. I think there’s so much beauty in traditional art, so I decided making it 100% traditionally, instead of how I made the cover. Hope you like it! And I recommend the Shape of Water movie if you haven’t watched it yet!
